Daejeon Animal Shelter (대전동물보호센터) is located at 1234 Geumnamgujeuk-ro, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon (in Korean, 대전광역시 유성구 금남구즉로 1234). You can contact the animal shelter at (+82) 42-825-1118.
There are two sessions available for the volunteer activity from Monday to Sunday as follows. The shelter accommodates 6-8 people per session per day.
Daejeon Animal Shelter
Some jobs that you can do in the animal shelter are cleaning up the shelter facilities (for dogs and cats) and playground, playing with the dogs and cats, and assisting with other works (arranging laundry or equipment, etc.), among others.
The animal shelter staff will explain your job description beforehand, so don’t worry too much 😁
It would be great if you go with at least one Korean friend (or someone who is fluent in Korean) for better communication.
(IMPORTANT!!) Don’t forget to take many pictures while doing the volunteer work for our documentation!!! 🥹

You can apply for a volunteer activity in the animal shelter by completing the online application in the 1365 Portal following this manual and then listing up your volunteering plan to our Google sheet before D-day.
After completing the volunteer work, please report to the PIC with pictures.
You can either go by bus or a taxi. It takes about 1 hour by bus (마을5) from KAIST to Daejeon Animal Shelter. By taxi, it will take about 22 minutes and cost approximately KRW 11,400~ (one-way).
